From Berlin to Porter to Kern, the music of this era is timeless. The Great American Songbook also known as American Standards was the birth of the most influential American popular songs and jazz standards of the 20th Century. Many of these songs were created for the Broadway stage or for a Hollywood musical on the silver screen but have experienced a renewed popularity. Your favorites are all here performed by a jazz trio and a talented group of local singers who will narrate you through this musical period. Paige Gagliano will serve as director with Mike Esnault as music director, arranger, and conductor. Join us as we celebrate the “Founding Fathers” of American music.
Don Vappie, world renown jazz musician and presenter from New Orleans. will be joining Mike.
Don leads the Creole Jazz Serenaders, a classic New Orleans jazz orchestra, as well as his various jazz and R&B combos. He has produced and recorded numerous CDs and film sound tracks and is star of the PBS documentary American Creole: New Orleans Reunion.
Drummer Keith Simoneaux will round out the trio.
